Injection Molding

The basic steps in the molding process are shown above:

1. The mold is mounted on a molding machine and closed.
2. Dry plastic granules are fed into the hopper.
3. The plastic is heated in the barrel and forced (injected) into the mold cavity by the screw.
4. Parts are briefly cured in the mold.
5. Mold is opened and parts are ejected.
6. Scrap, or runner, is collected.
